Hello everyone, and welcome to today's episode of The Story! My name is Rondo, and I'll be telling you a lot about the story we're about to hear.
Story? What story? I love stories!
Not just any story — it's THE STORY. The greatest story ever told. This is the story of how God has interacted with humankind since the very beginning, until the end. And the end is still in our future! It's not just a local tale about one group or religion. It's the big story of what God has been up to since the beginning of time. Bip, why don't you introduce yourself?
My name is Bip, and I get to tell you parts of the story too. I actually get to say MORE parts than Jess.
No you don't! And my parts are VERY important — in fact, the most important. Hello everybody, my name is Jess. The only one you haven't met yet is DJ. Take it away, DJ.
My name is DJ, and I'm going to be reading to you many passages from THE BOOK.
And do you really believe that story can even be traced? How could we know a story like that?
Hey, let's first hear the story before we judge it.
Sorry — just trying to clarify for our audience what story we're gathered around to hear.
The Bible! Okay — the story is the Bible. The Bible is the greatest story ever told!
Why didn't you just say so from the beginning. Wait a minute — isn't the Bible just a bunch of stories for little kids? All that religious stuff, a bunch of myths? No offense, Bippy.
Who are you calling "poo"? I have twice the lines you do in this presentation, Jess!
My bad. Just sayin'.
Well, you're both right. The Bible is a collection of stories — but seen from a different angle, it's ONE CONTINUOUS STORY. Let's start at the very beginning. Places, everyone! DJ, are you ready?
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface . . .
Wow. When you said "beginning," you really meant it. So this Bible story is about the creation of the world? This sounds pretty epic!
The Bible isn't just about creation — that's just the first book, called Genesis. In Genesis we also learn about the making of humanity, "the fall," and the great flood.

You mentioned Genesis was the first book of the Bible. Isn't the Bible a book? So how are there books in a book? Rondo, I don't get it.
You're right, the Bible is a book. In fact, the Greek word biblos — where the word "Bible" comes from — meant "the book." The Bible is actually made up of 66 different books. The earliest copies were written on papyrus . . .
Papyrus? Is that like paper?
